We met through mutual friends in 2003. We were both students of California State University Dominguez Hills and members of Greek organizations; Sigma Pi Fraternity and Phi Sigma Sigma. We were close friends for several years before officially becoming a couple in July of 2006. In March of 2008 we combined our lives and moved into our first place in Lynwood, CA. In August of 2010 we moved together with Matilde and Aaron to Norwalk, CA; where we currently live. In July of 2011, just after our 5-year anniversary, Walter proposed in the same location where we said I love you for the first time; the drawbridge of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at Disneyland Resort, CA.

I had absolutely no idea it was coming. Walter doesn’t believe me, but if you pay close attention to the video you’ll notice my make-up and hair aren’t done. If I had known I would have paid more attention to my looks that day. We were at Disneyland with a large portion of my family. The family was walking over to Snowwhite’s Wishing Well and as we passed the Castle Drawbridge I began to tell my older sister about when we said I love you for the first time. We veered that way to “take a quick picture.” Unfortunately not a lot of my family caught that we changed directions. My sister and brother-in-law were taking pictures of us and just as we finished I thought “this would be a perfect time for him to propose”…. And then he got down on one knee!! Holy cow!! All I could think was OMG and I can’t believe this is happening right now. He caught me off guard. He asked me twice if I’d marry him but all I could say is “oh my god” and “are you serious?” He finally asked me, “Are you going to say yes?!” which knocked me back into the moment and I said “of course!!” It was awesome!!
